IRS Payments
On March 25, 2025, President signed Executive Order 14247, titled Modernizing Payments to and From America’s Bank Account. This order directs all federal departments and agencies (including the IRS and the U.S. Treasury) to transition to electronic payments and receipts, eliminating reliance on paper checks and requiring digital payment methods wherever permitted by law. The order specifically states that, effective September 30, 2025, the federal government shall cease issuing paper checks for federal disbursements and that all payments made to the federal government will be processed electronically “as soon as practicable”, unless an exception applies (such as lack of access to banking services).
Where's My IRS Refund?
You can use this website to check on the status of your tax return within 24 hours after the IRS has received your e-filed tax return, or 4 weeks after your paper return was mailed. Please have your social security number or ITIN, filing status, and the exact amount of your refund with you.
